Jammin' I'm back, I'm back, you know it Jammin'

I know, I know, hold your applause. I'm just as excited as the next person (probably more excited given the circumstances) but yes! It's official! I'm back!

I've had a pretty eventful few years away, but everything must come home to roost eventually. Fingers crossed I manage to be a little more active around here, but I am officially going to be trying my hand once again at Flash Fiction Month! I am determined to make it farther than I ever did, which shouldn't be hard because the most I've participated is a total of 7 days.

:shakefist:

Other than that, I'm going to have a hell of a time adjusting to this new "Eclipse" layout.....and pining for the old days like the geezer I'm turning into. Oh well.

Love always,

me

So a few of you have probably noticed that I haven't been active on this site since the turn of the year. I lost my job in January and I've been in a funk ever since. I haven't been writing, so I haven't been coming onto DA. I've decided to call it an official hiatus so that peeps know where I've gone.

Ironically, that means I'm going to need someone to take over LiteraryCemetary for me, full time. I will still be coming onto the site every so often to check on things and answer people's comments, and maybe even post something if I start writing again, but I don't have enough energy to manage anything larger than that. If you can take over, let me know.

Love you all, and see you soon.

I've changed my username. Why, you may ask? I still like my previous moniker, but I've changed a LOT since I started calling myself DrippingWords. I've done a lot of growing up, and become a happier person who is more comfortable in my skin and with my identity. I wanted my username to show that. I recently started re-reading THE SONG OF THE LIONESS by Tamora Pierce again for the first time since middle school, and I forgot how much I used to, and still do, identify with the main character, Alanna. So I assumed her title, the Lioness Rampant. I'd like to think it better reflects my inner strength.

Also. I chopped off my hair, got a nose ring, and a whole new wardrobe. :XD: Here's a pic of how cute I am now:

Okee dokee artichokees! I hope you enjoyed reading TIGER EYES with PinkyMcCoversong! Are ya'll ready for this month's book? I think it's going to be a fun one!

HOW THIS WORKS

For the month of December, we will be reading I, ROBOT by Isaac Asimov. On December 16th, the mid-month discussion will go up. We will be discussing through the end of the story Liar! and there will be spoiler alerts up through that part! At the end of the month, we'll be talking about the entire book, so if you don't want to ruin it, read it!

(using the cooler cover because why the f not?)

WHO WE’RE READING

I, ROBOT by Isaas Asimov is actually a collection of short stories that tie together! Neat! They were published serially between 1940
and 1950 and then compiled into a complete novel that same year!

Fun piece of trivia:

The collection shares a title with the 1939 short story "I, Robot" by Eando Binder, but is not connected to it. Asimov had wanted to call his collection Mind and Iron, and initially objected when the publisher made the title the same as Binder's. Isaac Asimov was heavily influenced by the Binder short story. In his introduction to the story in Isaac Asimov Presents the Great SF Stories (1979), Asimov wrote:

"It certainly caught my attention. Two months after I read it, I began 'Robbie', about a sympathetic robot, and that was the start of my positronic robot series. Eleven years later, when nine of my robot stories were collected into a book, the publisher named the collection I, Robot over my objections. My book is now the more famous, but Otto's story was there first."

PRIZES

This will be updated as soon as I get the intel!

Don't forget to take a peek at the Book Club Schedule! to see what we're reading next month, and ESPECIALLY GO PICK THE NEXT BOOK CLUB BOOKS! We can't do this without you!

Also also obligatory apology for this being two days late but not as last as usual and for not actually having a Core membership to do the fancy journal skin I am poor

Although I really shouldn't be apologizing. I can't help it if I don't feel like logging on and being here, so I haven't been. I think the break has been good for me, though, so you might be seeing a bit more of me these next few months leading up to the new year.

In news, I've finally gotten a job. It's a cashier position at Walmart, and I start tomorrow. I'm super nervous, but ultimately relieved that I'm not just a floater anymore.

I'm going to be doing NaNo WriMo again this year, as the journal skin should have indicated. My project is a little unorthodox: I'm going to be writing lore for my dragons on FlightRising.

Other than that, I've got very little to share, since nothing new has been going on. But, I think I will catch up with my FFM stuff after NaNo.

Bye, all. Love ya.

'Lo everyone! Again, apologies this is a bit late (jeez I'm just terrible aren't I?) but here's the discussion for September's book, Watchmen. We'll be discussing the entire book, so spoiler warning! Alright let's get on with it, shall we?

Question 1

If Watchmen took place today, what world conflict(s) would stand in for the Cold War? Does the arrival of the Internet make all the newspaper and TV scenes obsolete? What parallels can you draw between the story and our current American political landscape?

Question 2

Watchmen originally came out serially, like a comic book does. Do you think that would affect how the book is read? Would you rather read it as if came out, or do you prefer the compiled novel?

FAN ART

Rorschach Watchmen by KxG-WitcheR Dr.Manhattan by GarryGaller Comedian by GarryGaller Watchmen: Srs Bsns by Bilious

Question 3

When the hero (Rorschach?) is harder to like than the villain (Veidt?), what does that say about the world of Watchmen?

Question 4 (Yeah, I'm gonna ask it.)

Who watches the watchmen?

ACTIVITY

If you lived in the world of Watchmen, what kind of role do you think you would play? Would you be a super hero, or a villain, somewhere in between? How would you react to the set of circumstances in the novel? Design your costume (doesn't have to be visually, you can describe it) and give yourself a spiffy name!

PRIZES

This month, the person who participates the most will receive a copy of Cyber Realm by Wren McDonald!
I'm also sorry I've been running behind on point tallying, but I'm working on it! Winners of unannounced months should be revealed soon!

When you're finished here, hop on over to this month's book, SPOOK by Mary Roach
, or drop on by and see the entire CRLiterature BOOK CLUB Schedule! I hope you enjoyed this book as much as I did! But now I'm off to go play Elder Scrolls Online and totally kick ass.
